Some of my favourite Japanese books that I have read so far!
Convenience Store Woman, by Sayaka Murata
Diary of a Void, by Emi Yagi
Both of these are quite short books
They are both about women who are put under enormous societal pressure to fit in, and end up lying and living fake lives so that people stop bothering them.

Sweet Bean Paste, by Durian Sukegawa
The Phone Booth at the Edge of the World, by Laura Imai Messina
Both are moving an beautiful books
Sweet Bean paste deals with the topics of prejudice, discrimination and freedom
The Phone Booth at the Edge of the World is a lovely story about grief
