A gentle, tender, beautiful, hopeful book about growing up, identity, family and relationships. This book is the absolute opposite of one that glorifies toxic fragile masculinity and I LOVED it. The two protagonists are so quirky and have such memorable unique conversations and interactions, and I felt myself growing so fond of them both (especially Dante) so quickly. I just love the way he speaks about the world and how kind he is to animals.
The book is about two Mexican-American boys named Aristotle and Dante who meet one summer in a swimming pool. Throughout the book, they both grow older and start to question their identity, their place in the world, and their relationships.
How dyslexia-friendly is it?
I found this overall really easy to read! There is a lot of dialogue and back and forth conversations and occasionally I got a bit lost about who was saying what but this didn’t happen a lot.
