Imagine if Mean Girls was a horror/supernatural novel - this is kind of how I imagine it would be. I really, really enjoyed it, and had absolutely no idea what was really going on, or what was going to happen. It is an unpredictable, weird, darkly comic and disturbing book which is so different to anything I have read before. It is set at Warren University and is about a woman who is doing a fiction writing course, and has to work with a ridiculous, clingy, cliquey group of women that she calls ‘The Bunnies’. Despite hating them, she gradually gets sucked into their lifestyle and their strange meetings, and things get bizarre and macabre pretty quickly. Ultimately, I think this book is about loneliness, imagination, belonging, and how toxic cliques can be.

How accessible is it?

I read this really fast because it was so gripping and unusual I had to keep reading to find out more. I think the stream-of-consciousness style of writing flowed really well, I liked that it was written in the first person present tense which I find easiest to read.
