A great homage to ‘And Then There Were None’ by Agatha Christie, this book features a dysfunctional family reunion in a remote beachside mansion that gets cut off by the tide overnight. Multiple murders, multiple suspects, an unreliable narrator, and lots of twists.
With a similar setting to the film ‘Knives Out’ - a family is brought together by an elderly relative who announces that the adults will not recieve any money or assets in their will. This information does not go down smoothly, and the tension builds throughout the book as the trust between the family members diminishes. Every single person has a secret, and these are gradually revealed throughout the plot.
I had a particular problem with this book whilst reading it (I can’t say what or else I fear I might spoil it), but I’m so glad I continued reading because the twist explains everything, and I think it was actually just really clever writing!

Once I had got my head around the different character’s names, this was a pretty smooth read. The plot made this book feel very short and I was so eager to find out what happens that I read it pretty fast.
