An easy-to-read, super enjoyable book set in modern day Japan about a woman who lies about being pregnant. As the only woman in her office, her male coworkers consistently expect her to perform extra tasks such as making and serving drinks, cleaning up mess and keeping things in order. One day she tells her coworker that she cannot clean up the dirty cups because she is pregnant and the smell makes her feel ill. The book is about how her “pregnancy” ends up drastically changing her daily routine, lifestyle, and the way that society treats her.
It’s not a long book, and was really fun to read. I found it very easy to escape into this world and it is a book I will definitely read again for enjoyment. The book is a Japanese translation and there are quite a few Japanese words that couldn’t be translated to English (mainly food) but it wasn’t hard to look these up on Google and learn about new dishes!
