This really short book (just 64 pages!) was surprisingly immersive and gripping, and is a reimagining of the myth of Galatea and Pygmalion. The story is set in ancient Greece, and our main character is Galatea, who used to be made of stone. Her husband was blessed by a goddess and given the ability to turn his marble creation into a living being. She has no freedom, and is watched and controlled constantly by doctors and nurses, and her only role in life is to please her husband (he’s a nasty piece of work). But Galatea is so unhappy, resentful, and desperately misses her daughter. I found the story incredibly satisfying and really recommend this little book!

How accessible is it?

It is told in the first person, and is so short that it took less than half an hour for me to read it. I found it to be very accessible!
