This book has strong ‘And Then There Were None’ vibes! If you enjoyed that book or ‘The Guest List’ by Lucy Foley, you should definitely check this one out!
A small group of tech company employees and shareholders meet in a remote ski chalet, and tensions are high in the group as they need to make a big decision about their future. An avalanche then cuts them off from the rest of the world, and members of the group start to go missing. I was really gripped by this book! The story is told from two perspectives in alternating chapters: one from a woman working in the lodge, and the other is one of the guests staying in the lodge. I think the author was so clever to create a fictional app called Snoop that genuinely would be successful and popular in real life - it’s such a good idea!
How dyslexia-friendly is it?
I found this to be a really great read that was so vivid and easy to imagine - it felt like I was watching a movie! I learned the names of the people in the group easily, and the first few pages have the characters names and their positions they hold in the company which is so helpful.
The only thing I wish this book had was a map! The book talks a lot about the different ski slopes and routes and transport, and the geography of the place becomes really important when people start going missing. So I ended up creating my own map based on the descriptions in the book! Ruth Ware herself reposted my map on her Instagram page!
