This book is a really intriguing psychological thriller all about a couple who travel to the Scottish Highlands for a break as a last chance to save their marriage. Their accommodation is creepy and unsettling, and some events occur which make them think that despite the remoteness of the location they might not be alone. But the snow keeps getting heavier, and they are unable to drive home. I liked that there are multiple perspectives/narrators in a mix of the first, second and third person. As a psychology student I was particularly interested in the chapters with the husbands perspective as he has prosopagnosia, a condition where he cannot recognise faces. l thought the twist in this book is fantastic! I had to go back and read a few chapters because my mind was a bit blown. I read this in two sittings because I was gripped straight away, and I will recommend this book to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers based on the twist alone!
How accessible is it?
I felt like this was a pretty accessible book - the font in my edition was nice and big and the writing style was clear. However, the narration/story is a little bit misleading (on purpose!) and I probably understood the twist a lot later than other people would have done!
