A small group of strangers on a remote & isolated island, stormy weather that traps them all from the rest of the world, and a murderer amongst them… if you enjoyed ‘The Guest List’ by Lucy Foley or ‘And Then There Were None’ by Agatha Christie, I think you will love this book!

I was really hooked by the first page, and thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is about a woman called Anna who gets into an accident that kills two and paralyses one of her co-workers and moves to Rum in Scotland to try and recover. I thought the plot was surprising, exciting and unexpected, and I loved the twist! It really makes you so suspicious of everyone, and plays with stereotypes and first impressions. The story is told mainly by Anna, but some of the chapters are from the perspectives of other characters which is really interesting and refreshing.

Although this book was really tense and a thriller, I found it to be weirdly cosy (maybe because of the stormy weather descriptions which I love?) and I just enjoyed reading it so much. I love the ending too, it really leaves you thinking about morality and whether horrible acts can be justified and forgiven.

How dyslexia-friendly is it?

I didn’t need to make any notes about character names because they were all introduced very well. This was another one of those books for me that I could easily imagine and felt like I was watching a movie!
