This book is about an old man who is presumed to have dementia, and social services send a carer around to evaluate whether he needs full-time residential care. He is convinced that his wife went missing during the war, but the carer soon finds out that he never married, and there is not a single person or record that suggests she even existed. However, as his carer gets to know him, she starts doubting that he has dementia, and begins to wonder whether something strange happened long ago.
My only criticism would be that there seemed to be some things that were not resolved at the end, and I thought it was strange for a stand-alone book to introduce a new character in the last few pages of a book!
How dyslexia-friendly is it?
I really liked how this was written. It feels very natural and easy to read and the language was simple and written clearly!
