An absolute must-read for anyone who is into classics!
I think it is such a heart-breaking story - about different elusive dreams including wealth, class and love. If you are interested in what life was like in America in the 20s (for the working, middle and upper class) then this book gives you a nice little glimpse into it. The whole book is a lot more moving once you learn how so many similar events happened in Fitzgerald’s own life with Zelda.
How dyslexia-friendly is it?
I probably wouldn’t have read/finished this book if I hadn’t been studying it for one of my A levels many years back. Even though it is a relatively short book, I didn’t find it the easiest to read at first but I really got into it after a while. Fitzgerald’s writing is often quite poetic and for me it involved quite a bit of re-reading bits in order to appreciate it fully, but it was definitely worth it, and I think he writes very beautifully. My annotated book is covered in highlighted quotes that I just love❤️.
