This has to be the most delightful book I have ever read! I didn’t want it to end, I wish there was a sequel or a whole series with these characters, I want it to be made into a movie, I will 100% be re-reading this again when I need a comforting book💙

Okay so this book is about a middle-aged guy called Linus who lives alone with his cat in a grey and rainy city, and has a monotonous crowded desk job at DICOMY (Department in Charge of Magical Youth) with his horrible boss and co-workers. Unexpectedly and with little warning, he is sent off on a highly classified mission by Extremely Upper Management to inspect an orphanage in a remote location where they put particularly dangerous magical children.

This book is all about stereotypes, prejudice, fear of those who are different to ourselves. But it is also about hope, ability to change, and of beautiful relationships that blossom in unlikely circumstances. This book has THE BEST characters, every single one is memorable and more complex than what they seem to be at first and I really appreciated the diversity in this book ☺️

I laughed out loud whilst reading this, teared up at some points and found some bits just so adorable it made me so emotional. The whole thing had a wonderful cosy, wholesome, magical feeling to it for me like a hug, it was just about perfect.

How dyslexia-friendly is it?

I found this very easy to read in terms of the language and writing style! I thought that some of the chapters were pretty long but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing!
